General Description of the project:
The Government of Lao PDR has received a Financial Assistance from the Royal Thai Government (RTG) towards the construction of Lao-Thai Railway Construction Project, Phase II (Section 2) starting from Thanaleng, Sta.3+500 to Vientiane Station. This Phase II (Section 2) comprises the construction of Vientiane Station at Sta. 10+000, Row House, Railway mainline from Sta.3+500 to Sta.11+250, Siding Track, access road, 2.0 kilometers and installation of Signaling and Telecommunication System. The Project location map is shown in below. With Financial Assistance from the Royal Thai Government, the detailed design was completed by a Thai Consulting -rm in 2010.
The first phase, also with the Financial Assistance from the Royal Thai Government (RTG) from Nong Khai-Thanaleng with a total length of 3.50 km was completed in 2008 and started historical operation in March 2009. It is the first railway from Thailand to neighboring country, especially Lao PDR. Also, the Government of Lao PDR, after the receipt of financial assistance from the Royal Thai Government (RGT) has recently completed the construction of the Container Yard (CY) and Access Road to Container Yard at Thanaleng, Upgrading Signaling & Telecommunication System of Thanaleng Station, Construction of DRW Head Quarter and ROW House (Presumably Phase II, Section1) in 2016.
The project is expecting to be completed in 2021 with the total construction cost of US$ 26.4 million financial support from NEDA Thailand.

Description of the mission of the Consultant:
The consultant services comprise of the following task:
+ Construction of Vientiane Station and Row house as described in the detailed design, construction of railway mainlines with the approximate length 7.5 km including level crossing and 4 siding tracks from Thanaleng Station to Vientiane Station
+ Construction of access road with the approximate length 2 km from public road to location of Vientiane station Installation of signaling and telecommunication system at Thanaleng station through Vientiane station.
